I've spent the past seven years working in the death care industry, speaking with thousands of families preparing for the death of someone they love, or navigating the days immediately afterwards.
I've heard how overwhelming the practical responsibilities can be, how difficult it is when important information can't be found, and how often people wish they'd had conversations about death before they needed to.
I've also witnessed that overwhelm personally, helping someone close to me navigate the administration that follows a death. It made me realise how much easier things could be if we organised our affairs and talked about wishes while we're still here.
